Dr. Martin Baggaley
Chief Medical Officer
Dr Baggaley, MB.BS, BSc, qualified from St Bartholomew’s Hospital in 1984. He served in the British Army from 1985 until 1997 as a military psychiatrist. He trained as a psychiatrist at Guy’s Hospital London. He has been a full-time psychiatrist from 1986 and has been a consultant from 1993.
He worked as Senior lecturer in Military Psychiatry for 4 years and for two years was Head of Division at the Defence Services Psychiatric Centre, Catterick. He left the British Army in 1997 and was appointed to the post of consultant psychiatrist for the South London and Maudsley NHS Trust and senior lecturer in psychiatry for the Guy’s, King’s College and St Thomas’s Hospitals’ Medical and Dental School.
He was Clinical Director of Adult Mental Health in the borough of Lewisham for 5 years. He was training scheme organiser and MRCPsych Examiner for 10 years.
Dr Baggaley was Executive Medical Director for the Maudsley for 9 years before moving to Abu Dhabi in Abu Dhabi in October 2016. He retains a consultant contract at the Maudsley and continues to see patients in London as well as Abu Dhabi. Dr Baggaley is licensed to practice by the United Kingdom General Medical Council and HAAD, he is a fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists UK and is approved under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act.

Dr Baggaley has extensive knowledge of psychopharmacology. He also has been trained in, and delivers Cognitive Analytic Psychotherapy (CAT).
Dr Baggaley believes in and practices a patient centric, holistic approach using both psychological and pharmacological interventions. He believes in continuity of care and respects the wishes and choices of patients. Dr Baggaley uses the latest evidence based treatments and believes in value based health care with a strong emphasis on outcomes.
