Dr. Ahmed Alwazeer

Dr. Ahmed Alwazeer is Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist at Maudsley Health. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, in Psychiatry in 2016 and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in 2017. He obtained Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in the UK in 2006, and a Certificate of Completion of Training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry from the General Medical Council in the UK in 2010. He has completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Education from the University of Warwick, UK in 2010. He is a licensed physician with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia, Canada, and Abu Dhabi’s DOH.

Dr. Alwazeer joined Maudsley Health Abu Dhabi in 2022 from Canada where he was the Physician Lead for the regional Adolescent Intensive Services for Mental health and Addictions. Dr. Alwazeer worked at the IWK Health Centre, Canada for more than eight years. Prior to that, he worked in the National health Services in the UK for four years as a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist until 2014. Dr. Alwazeer worked with both youth and young adults with difficulties across the spectrum of mental health disorders. Dr. Alwazeer also is an Assistant Professor in Psychiatry at Dalhousie University, Canada since 2014. He has presented on numerous topics in child and adolescent psychiatry and is a reviewer for prominent academic journals in this space.

He works collaboratively with children, young adults and as appropriate their families along the journey of recovery from mood, anxiety, psychosis, bipolar, substance use, developmental, behavioural, and eating disorders.
