Dr. Mariam Karaman

Dr. Mariam Karaman is a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (UK) since January 2025 and holds both Emirati Board and Arab Board certifications in Psychiatry. She obtained her MBBS degree from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Sharjah, UAE.

With 7 years of clinical experience, Dr. Karaman has worked across diverse psychiatric settings, including Adult Psychiatry Units, psychiatric emergency services, addiction, old age psychiatry, rehabilitation, forensic psychiatry, and community outreach programs. She has also gained 2 years of specialized experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities, including those with autism and behavioural challenges, across both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Dr. Karaman is currently working within the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) team at Maudsley Health, Abu Dhabi, where she is involved in early identification, comprehensive assessment, diagnostic evaluation, and formulation of individualized, evidence-based management plans for children and adolescents presenting with a range of mental health and neurodevelopmental conditions.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Karaman has been actively involved in teaching undergraduate medical students and trainees.

She has a special interest in the mental health of people with special needs and is passionate about raising awareness of mental health, promoting neurodiversity, and advocating for the inclusion of people of determination within the community.
