Dr. Afshan Chaudary

Dr. Afshan Chaudary is a Senior Clinical Psychologist working across Adult Outpatients and CAMHS in Al Amal Psychiatric Hospital, Dubai. She completed the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy) at the University of Leeds (UK) in 2017. Prior to this, she obtained her undergraduate degree in psychology, 2 Masters degrees, and a postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy. Dr Chaudary has a strong interest in systemic working and completed the foundation level training in systemic practice from the University of Leeds (UK) in 2019.

Dr. Chaudary is a licensed practitioner psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) of the UK, a chartered member of the British Psychological Society (BPS), and a licensed Clinical Psychologist with the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) in the UAE.

Dr. Chaudary has worked in the mental health field for over 15 years in a range of settings across the NHS and private sector, including CAMHS, secure hospitals, acute wards, autism rehabilitation, personality disorder services, and community rehabilitation.

Dr. Chaudary supports individuals (and significant others) across a range of severe / complex difficulties and is flexible and integrative in her approach. Her work is informed by training in and experience of a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches such as CBT, EMDR, systemic family therapy, compassion focused therapy and schema therapy. Dr. Chaudary is committed to culturally sensitive and anti-discriminatory practice. She also believes much can be gained from developing psychology practice and contributing to the evidence base in the growing field of mental health in the Middle East.
