Dr Saqib Latif is the Clinical Lead for the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) at Maudsley Health Abu Dhabi.

Dr Saqib is an experienced senior Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, who has been awarded Fellowship of Royal College of Psychiatrists (FRCPsych), as a mark of distinction and recognition of contributions to psychiatry. He completed his postgraduate training at Guy’s, Kings College and St. Thomas’ Hospitals, and higher specialist training at South London and Maudsley Hospital. He has held various clinical and leadership positions in both community and hospital settings, in the United Kingdom and United Arab Emirates.  He worked for over 14 years in the National Health Service (NHS) during which time he successfully led the development of specialist neuro-developmental services for Autism and related disorders in Kent.

More recently, Dr Saqib developed Children services at the American Center for Psychiatry & Neurology (ACPN) over past 6 years. He is also an Adjunct Clinical Senior Lecturer at Khalifa University, Abu Dhabi.

He is passionate about providing high quality healthcare, and has been part of organization’s Joint Commission International (JCI) Goldstar Accreditation.

He has worked closely with educational institutes and ADEK (Abu Dhabi Education Knowledge) authority, in formulating care pathways for Special Education Needs and People of Determination (PoD).

Dr Saqib has a passion for prevention and early intervention, and has been involved with patient safety and public health quality campaigns in the UK. He encourages working closely with families and schools and has a deep understanding of the complex interaction of genetic and environmental factors, in developing emotional problems.

He has been actively involved in Teaching and training junior psychiatrists at Fellowship programmes, and has been invited as a speaker at local and International conferences.

He uses a patient-centred, evidence-based care approach. In addition to his clinical and research experience with Autism (ASD), he has extensive experience working with children and young people experiencing emotional problems such as anxiety, depression, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), as well as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), behavioral disorders and psychotic presentations.

Dr Saqib has published on the ethical aspects of diagnosing mental disorders, and on Self-harm.

He has special interest in the use of modern technology in early detection and providing accessible treatment packages, without stigma.
